Not allowed to meet Adityanath over debt, man tries to immolate himself

Facing a debt of Rs 2.50 lakh over medical treatment and deteriorating health, a man tried to immolate himself at the Gorakhnath temple premises in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur on Sunday after security personnel did not permit him to meet chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

Rajkumar Bharti, a resident of Rajpur Devri in Ballia district, poured petrol on himself and tried to set himself afire during a programme attended by the CM, police said.

He was, however, caught by the people present at the site, including mediapersons. He was detained by police who took him to a nearby police station.

Bharti said he had sought assistance from the chief minister.

“I am in the grip of a disease and have spent a large amount of money on treatment. I came from Ballia to seek help from Adityanath,” he told reporters.View more:-Bulk Sms Service provider

“When I was not allowed to meet the CM, I thought suicide was the only way out, the state government should take care of my family…,” he said.
